The Biblical Hittites formed an empire at Hattusa around 1600 BCE. In Turkey. About 30,000 to 50,000 people lived here at one time. In May 2023, I walked around the ruins with fellow travelers Tim and Mary Frances from Australia. Fun day, great weather. We were staying nearby in a small town with far more tractors than cars. It was charming, the food was good and we played cards every night and I always lost!
