Los Baños, “Rescue at Dawn” Philippines

There is a University in Los Baños that was used as an internment camp by the Japanese as a prison for American missionaries, company executives, catholic priests and nuns and women and children. My father, Henry A. Burgess, led the Amphtrac part of the rescue of the internees early the day they were all to be executed.

This is the landing area of the Amphtracs, coming ashore under the cover of darkness. From here there is a road directly up to the camp.
